Sofia and Luis wanted one thing from the day: that nobody would have to stand still for it. No shot list, no staged line-ups, no waiting around for the photographer. So we agreed on twelve minutes alone in the wheat field after the ceremony, and I spent the rest of the day two steps behind the noise.
The light in the Alentejo in June is unforgiving until about eight in the evening, and then it turns to honey for forty minutes. We planned the whole timeline around that window. Dinner was pushed back an hour, and nobody complained once they saw the sky.
The last frame of the night was made at 1:14am, in a tunnel of sparklers held by ninety people who were meant to have gone home at midnight.
